Every year at this time, our inboxes fill with countdown clocks, flashing banners, and endless exclamation points!!! And it's the same message: Hurry! Buy more! Don’t miss out!

And even though I get it, I do! I sell stuff for a living! :) The frenetic urgency of it all just repels me.

But I get it. Behind the urgency and the flashing lights is the very real need to make ends meet, to pay bills, to keep creating. For many small businesses, sales from this season makes the rest of the year possible. 

It’s the time when we hope people will find us, remember us, and support the work we’ve been quietly tending all year long.

For years I've tried to navigate this season and figure out a way to make it feel better, as a small business owner and as a human. 

Because I needed another way to participate in this season. A way that honors both the need to sustain a business and the desire to stay true to what matters most to me.

Because now more than ever, when a single person can become a trillionaire, when huge corporations shape the pace and values of daily life, choosing to buy from small businesses becomes a conscious act of care. It’s about making choices that reflect who we are and the values that we stand for. 

Because for me, I don't want to add to the tidal wave of noise encouraging blind and ravenous consumption

I know that when I feel aligned, I feel less stressed out and that is my ultimate goal: to not be stressed out during the holidays!
